I own both versions of the game, its a great port for a phone.
Maybe this is a 5s problem, but there is no sound during the cut scenes. Also the controls are atrocious. Even an onscreen D-pad would be welcome. I only give it 2 stars due to my found memories of the sega cd version.
The backgrounds arent the same as the sprites-pretty big letdown
It really really does, please please please, Edit...i checked back to see if you added a d-pad, and still nothing? Im not the only one from all Ive read, i really want to play this game, lunar is one of my all time favs. And this loos great, i just cant get into tap and walk controls
One of my most played games on iSO, takes me back. Great port.
Controls are awful. Needs dpad like Final Fantasy 3 on ios. No sound during movies. Screen does not rotate or flip to your orientation. Minor things that should of been fixed. For $.99, I will probably get my moneys worth, with some aggravation. Shame, would easily be a 5 star app with little effort.
Im not going to play until you make the audio actually play in cutscenes on iPhone 5s. Cmon guys!
Can be a bit easy at times, but very enjoyable overall. Loved the myriad sexual and real world references throughout the game, hated the repetitious music (although tracks like Lorath Castle and Boss Battle are great). Worth playing.
Great game, and great port. Its interesting how theve adapted the controls to the touchscreen. I think it works well on the most part. Now all they need is to port the other Working Design games like Lunar to the iPhone.
Brings back great memories of the sega cd and the 16bit era RPGs.
This game is decently playable and quite a treat if you never played the Sega CD original, but it is still horribly rewritten in ways that destroy the tone of the game. Having npcs marvel at ships by calling them dragons, then making some dumb reference to Terrorist Threat levels and California sales tax is highly disrespectful and jarring. Aside from that, if you can entertain a poorly represented game, this is adequately playable. You may find your money better spent on iOS Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest or even another game genre entirely that doesnt rely on story and world to be engaging. Theres a joke about the size of male genetalia at a port town when asking about a dock. There isnt much to the drama when the translator clearly doesnt care.
This is a fun game, great Sega CD translation.
I will gladly change the to 5 star if you could please add controller support, specifically logitech proshell on iphone 5. It would be so nice for this amazing game!! Pretty please!!
I bought this because I wanted to give the folks who made the awesome Lunar port more money. This game is fun and ported well. I really just want Eternal Blue.
I hate to leave a bad review because I know how important good reviews are to an app’s success but I simply couldn’t play this game. Touching the location on the screen that you want your character to move to might have been a nice experiment for 1st gen touch screens but in practice it’s terrible. I might have been able to accept it if the character moved at more than a snail’s pace across the screen but alas he does.
Had a lot of fun playing this game, really took me back to the days of grinding through Final Fantasy games, which I think is a perfect platform for iOS. Got through the game pretty quickly and was able to level at a good pace without too much wandering (its easy to power level at the end as there are a ton of encounters and all reap high exp - jumped 15 levels between the last castle and the final battle just trying to get there). Unlike most of these reviews I thought the controls were just fine for a touchscreen and wouldnt have been any better with a d-pad. It was a little frustrating the first few minutes, but once you get in to the game it because almost intuitive - not perfect but it definitely worked for me. Now the bad. Some of the cut scenes at the end didnt have audio, which is odd because the rest did. Had to look them up online to get the effect, which kinda sucked. The story didnt have the impact other RPGs have had, didnt really care when the party changed and some of these changes I think were supposed to be poignant. No twists that really took me and no real need for exploring or secret areas to find either (to my knowledge), which is something I like in my games. However at $.99 this game was a steal - it fed all the cravings I had for a turned based RPG. Would definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking to get an old school "fix."
I really want to give the game a chance, but i don see it happening with the terrible controls. Please add a joystiq or something instead of the really bad ones it has.
One of the few games I have that works without mobile data. Reminds me of SNES Final Fantasy. Love it.
For some reason I cannot fathom I was looking up old Working Designs games and noticed there was an iOS port of Vay. I owned, and I fact still own, the SegaCD version of this game. The control scheme is atrocious but I couldnt pass this game up for $0.99. Other than the fact that movement is highly annoying this is an amazing classic RPG.
