Make sure to check settings!

I knew when I was playing that the game felt very easy, and that the difficulty was probably adjusted from the Sega CD version...but its only as I go to write the review now that I see that there were difficulty options available. Theyre hidden away in the "Settings" section/app of your iPhone. I could have been playing on "Hard"! Arghh!

Other than that, a pure JRPG experience that was very welcome on the iPhone. The walking controls are finicky but you just have to be persistent. BTW, they also adjusted some other things: the partys battle graphics are anime style (though you can apparently choose to have the original ones), and the dialogue has been re-translated, sometimes with jokes current to 2008. It might tick off a purist, but overall, I enjoyed it.
